Ticket, Please…

Writer Indu Harikumar studied fashion and history. A children’s writer, illustrator and craft teacher, Indu has written and illustrated for various regional and English children’s publishers, both non-profit and multinational. Her first bi-lingual picture book – “How do we weigh Appukuttan?” (English) / “Appukuttan ko toley kaise?” (Hindi) has been published by Eklavya.

Indu enjoys craft immensely and loves using discarded items or trash in her projects. She makes books using unusual materials like  matchboxes, cigarette cases and  seed pods, amongst others and art using bus and train tickets. Here are a few of her creations:

Indu used to volunteer as an art teacher at the Mumbai Mobile Creches centre. Mobile Creches is one of the few NGOs specifically supporting the health, education and safety of children of construction labourers in India.
