Designer Tosha Patel Choksi started making fashion bead jewellery when she was in school. Later while studying for her Bachelor’s in Painting at the renowned Faculty of Fine Arts, Vadodara – Maharaja Sayajirao University she started making more and selling them for pocket money. By the end of the course she realized that although she was an artist at heart, she longed for making wearable things and thus enrolled herself at a course in Fashion Accessories in Cordwainers at London College of Fashion.
During her course in London, she learnt luxury bag making techniques specialized in leather craft. During the weekends she used to exhibit her handmade jewellery at Camden Town and Greenwich market. After her course, Tosha did a 2-month internship with a designer in Brixton. At the studio she learnt how to operate in a small space, how to manage everything with limited resources, photoshoot, stock counting basically everything that a designer needs to know and go through.
On coming back Tosha did her research for 2 years from sourcing materials in India, to understanding markets, to developing her own skills as a craftsman. Meanwhile Tosha used to manufacture and exhibit her bags in her hometown. Eventually her brand ‘Toshe’ was born. Using all kinds of materials like leather, denim, velvet – Indian fabrics like silk and brocade, Tosha creates fun and sophisticated designs. Here are a few of them:
At Toshe, each design is made in a certain limited quantity and are never repeated again.
