From The Tribal World

Artist Venkat Raman Singh Shyam excelled in studies during his early education, but unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances he had to leave studies and struggle for existence working as a daily labourer.

At the age of ten Venkat began painting and moved to Bhopal  to pursue his career as an artist.  He resumed his studies, but continued to face considerable hardship which forced him to travel to Delhi and take up hard physical labour again. During this time he met renowned painter, the late Jagadish Swaminathan who became his mentor. With his inspiration and support Venkat began painting once more, and since then there was no looking back.

Venkat has been a part of many exhibitions and won many awards from around the world. His work is a part of many private and public collections across the globe. Here are a few of his paintings:

Venkat is highly inspired and influenced by the legendary Jangarh Singh Shyam, who is his uncle and a renowned Gond artist.  He has a studio in Bhopal, MP where he lives with his family.
