Art Activism

Software engineer Rohini Kummitha is also a very passionate, self-taught visual artist. She quit her high flying career to pursue her passion for arts and is getting ready to do an MFA in Integrated Visual Arts to gain a better understanding of the technical nuances.

Rohini works with various media like sketching, painting, photography and craft. She is a true environmentalist and loves to use various recycled material in her work. Here are a few of her beautiful creations:

Butterfly's Biography; Mixed media art Acrylics and paper

Tree-Wall Mural; Materials Used: Wool for the trunk and branches, Toilet paper rolls and tissue paper for leaves.

Mahabharatha; Hand drawn painting using Fine tip markers, Poster boards, Acrylic paints, Pistacho shells, match sticks and candles

Rohiniโ€™s work is highly inspired by Indian folk art, Mythology and ethnic designs. Her paintings talk about social issues faced in the world today, like the Butterflyโ€™s Biography talking about orphanages and Mahabharatha talking about war, terrorism, teenage pregnancy and abuse against women
