Ancient Script, Modern Art

Veteran artist Amitabh Sengupta studied printmaking and painting at Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Paris in 1966 on a scholarship from the French Government. In 1975, he received the President’s Award in painting awarded by the All India Fine Arts & Crafts Society, New Delhi and 1986 – 1987 he was listed as Art advisor with the Federal Universities, Nigeria and with the UNESCO, Paris.

His work has been included in many major collections such as the President’s House, Lagos, and State House, Owerri, Nigeria; Lalit Kala Academy and Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi; Taj Group of Hotels, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata and New Delhi; Park Hotel, Kolkata; World Tel; ITC Kolkata; Art Heritage collection; Chaise, New York; TATA Cummins; ACC India, etc.
